Day two of the BISERGS brings us three matches and many participants will see their teams in action for the first time today. The highlight of the day is certainly Spain against the Netherlands in a rematch of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa. Mexico has had a rough year, but they are always dangerous in the World Cup. They play Cameroon in the first match of the day. Tournament dark horses Chile will play Australia, the lowest ranked team in the days final game.
Spain was the second most popular team in the BISERGS draft and is currently ranked number one in the world. Derek, Renee, Bill, Carol B and Josh all used first round picks to take Spain and will hope to be rewarded. Renee will have three teams in action today and if things go according to plan should end the day on top of the BISERGS charts. Josh, Andrew, Dawn, Sharleen and Matt S have two teams in action today and are hoping for some big results. Matt S is already on the top of the board and looks to cement his place at the top through Chile and Cameroon. Carol Barrera, the reigning BISERGS also has two teams in action, but they are playing against one another, so there is no way she will pick up two wins. At the end of today, 24 BISERGSers will have at least 1 team play and 11 will still be waiting to get started in the coming days. There is sure to be plenty of action on the BISERGS scoreboard today, so check into the website and see where you stand. (Please remember, these games are in the middle of the night for me, so I won't be updating them until I wake up.)
And you have never awakened in the middle of the night to watch a game? I did once for a Mexico USA game. It was on Internet (not TV), and the Internet went out JUST at the crucial moment, so I still didn't find out who won until the next day.
ReplyDeleteI have many times, but I decided not to do it for this one. The USA Ghana match starts at 2 am on a work night, and I'm planning on going out to watch that one. We don't get the games at home, so I have to go out to watch. I'm thinking about heading out in an hour to catch the Spain - Holland match, but now I'm feeling tired.
DeleteGooooaaaalllll... Not a pk but you have to take what you are given
ReplyDeleteMissed the first half because of taking the grandkids to pizza, but got back in time to see the GOLAZO de Robbens!
ReplyDeleteWow... My first pick.....Speechless...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Derek. Spain lost their first match in South Africa and came back to win the whole thing. On the other hand, they did look pretty awful didn't they. At least you have Italy and Uruguay to look forward to.
DeleteBen Halloran of Australia -- cute, bouncy haircut
ReplyDeleteHey now, most of us men playing the BISERGS are bald. Don't you prefer Arjan Robben's hair style.
DeleteI do agree that goals are more important than haircuts or snazzy uniforms. And character is more important than goals.
